2015 Summit

Save the Date!
October 2-4, 2015 - New Orleans

This year is the 50th anniversary of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act as well as the Voting Rights Act — and the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

With these anniversaries in mind, the American Federation of Teachers and the Schott Foundation for Public Education, along with our co-sponsors, invite social justice activists to convene in New Orleans on October 2-4. This conference, Advancing Racial Justice in 2015: How Communities and Labor Can Organize Together, will bring together representatives from four arenas of work to explore and develop opportunities for collaboration so that we can grow and strengthen this movement:

Educational Justice • Criminal Justice
Living Wage/Economic Justice • Immigration Reform

Our previous conference in 2013 brought together 500 community and labor activists from across the country. Since then, parents, students, teachers, and community members have been hard at work — this will be an opportunity for us to come together and share our victories, learn from our challenges, and strengthen the movement for educational and social justice for all.

We'll send more information in the coming weeks. See you this fall in New Orleans!
